Description

Given are the characteristics of an ion beam, accelerated on the 240 cm isochronous cyclotron of the USSR Nuclear Research Institute. The cyclotron operates at three modes: helium, proton and deuteron ion acceleration, the neutron pulsing mode and heavy ion acceleration mode. Obtained are proton beams with the 13.53 and 72 MeV energy and deuteron beams with the energy of 26, 50 and 64 MeV. The bunch time duration is regulated in the range from 1 to 3 nc. The ion beam intensity, obtained under the pulsing mode equals 30 -40 μA. The development of a neutron time-of-flight spectrometer on the basis of the cyclotron is planned. The spectrometer will provide high accuracy data on the nuclei-neutron interaction
