Description
This patent describes a gripper apparatus to move elongated nuclear fuel rods in the direction of the length thereof. The gripper apparatus includes the combination of gripper plate means having web sections extending between and separating fuel rod passageways for an array of fuel rods, means supported by the gripper plate means for pressing the fuel rods in each passageway against end portions of the fuel rod passageway, reciprocative means to move the gripper plate means between spaced-apart gripping and release positions for advancing the fuel rods and increment of their length in one axial direction
