Unit for measuring the thermoluminescent dosemeter de-excitation

Description

The design of a measuring unit of thermoluminescent dosemeters is described. The measuring unit is completed with serial instruments: a high-voltage supply source ofr a photomultiplier (PM) with smooth control of the output voltage from 800 to 1500 V and stability not worse than 0.1%, a high-resistance potentiometer with an electrometric amplifier for recording the PM current, a ferroresonance stabilizer. The measuring unit consists of a transducer recording luminescence of a powder-like thermoluminophore, cassetes with a heating element and a phosphor of a permanent action for unit calibration and of a step-down transformer for the heating element. On applying dosemeters made of LiF powder, the unit enables one to measure X-ray, γ and β absorbed doses within the range from 0.5 to 104 rad. The error does not exceed +-30% for the doses ranging from 0.5-1.5 rad and +-10% in the range 2-104 rad. It has been stressed that the measuring unit described has been operated reliably for 3 years and stood more than 10 thousand measurements
