Analysis of high pressure meltdown sequences for PWR's: Chapter 7
- 1. Kraftwerk Union Aktiengesellschaft, Erlangen
Description
Several accident scenarios leading to core meltdown under high pressure have been investigated. In a transient case, RPV failure will occur after about five hours. The depressurization of the primary system into the reactor cavity doesn't influence the containment integrity because the outer shielding will fail immediately. This fact limits the pressure increase within the cavity well below the failure criterion of the RPV support. The overpressurization of the containment will not occur before 5 days
