Simplest T-odd polarization observable in the exclusive deuteron electrodisintegration

Description

The asymmetry Σe of the scattering d(e↓,e'p)n of longitudinally polarized electrons by an unpolarized deuteron target is calculated under various kinematical conditions in the relativistic version of the impulse approximation. The effects of the final-state interaction of nucleons are allowed for through a unitarization procedure in which multipole amplitudes of the process γ*d→np(γ* is a virtual photon) acquire the phase shifts of np scattering. The asymmetry Σe is found to be sensitive to the electromagnetic-current-conservation condition, which is responsible for the process γ*d→np. The contributions of various mechanisms taken into account in the relativistic impulse approximation are evaluated
