Effect of helium on formation of precipitates in OCr16Ni15Mo3Nb steel
- 1. AN Kazakhskoj SSR, Alma-Ata. Inst. Yadernoj Fiziki
Description
Electron microscopy study of changes in OCr16Ni15Mo3Nb steel structure has been carried out in sample zones (1) irradiated by alpha-particles of 29 MeV energy, (2) doped with helium to a concentration of 500 appm, and (3) unirradiated after annealing at 7000C for 0.5, 1 and 50 h. Short-time annealings are shown to cause elimination of defects in the irradiated zone and their evolution into dislocation loops in the helium-doped zone. Ageing for 50 h caused the formation of finely-dispersed precipitates only in the helium-doped zone. Results of similar experiments with steel samples irradiated by protons of 7 MeV energy indicate that helium is an effective catalyst of phase precipitation in OCr16Ni15Mo3Nb steel. (author)
