Description

This report first discusses the social and economical challenges related to the downstream part of the nuclear fuel cycle, i.e. the direct and indirect cost of storage, the funding system of operators for waste management, and the industrial risk insurance. The second part deals with storage and disposal issues. It describes and comments researches, practices and knowledge related to their different aspects (management, control, transport, material long term behaviour, geological aspects of deep storage, search for an appropriate area, and storage of low level wastes). The third part gives an overview of studies and researches on separation and transmutation. The fourth part gives an overview of international activities in these domains (geological storage, human sciences, separation and transmutation). The second volume contains scientific and technical appendixes
