Neutron activation analysis of trace elements in watersamples after preconcentration of activated carbon

  • 1. Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam (Netherlands). Chemisch Lab.

Description

In this thesis, the use of activated carbon for the determination of trace elements in sea and fresh water is studied. Activated carbon, if pure, appears very usable for the preconcentration of trace elements in water. Because of its simplicity, the analysis can be performed at the sampling site itself. The absorbed elements are then determined through neutron activation analysis. The scope of this study is limited to: V, Cr, Co, Cu, Zn, Se, Mo, Cd, W, Hgand U
