Description
Perturbative QCD is used to calculate the diffractive dissociation of a photon into quark-antiquark jets, γp → q anti qp, arising from the direct coupling of the real photon to q anti q pairs. The general features of the reaction can be understood without detailed computation, although specific numerical predictions are made. (orig.)
