Steam condenser
Description
Purpose: At the time of failure of a bwr type reactor, a method is described for preventing oscillation phenomena and dynamic load induced by steam condensation at the outlet of a downcomer. Constitution: The lower part of the downcomer is formed in a diffuser shape where the sectional area thereof is gradually expanded toward the downward. According to this construction, the kinetic energy of steam or the like flowing down through the downcomer can be reduced to intend to uniform and rapid condensation, whereby the dynamic load acting upon the downcomer can be relaxed.
