Treatment of high-position tracheo-esophageal fistula using coated metallic stent (report of 8 cases)
Description
Objective; Treating high-position tracheo-esophageal fistula using coated metallic stent. Methods: Ascertain the length and position of the stent to be used according to the extent and location of esophageal stenosis. Introduce the stent by direct observation of endoscopy or combined with X-ray. Results: Stent placement was successful in all 8 cases, the symptoms of choking and obstruction were relieved and all patients could take normal diet 3 to 5 days after the operation. Using lateral chest film and endoscopy, the position of the stent was checked, both ends were flared and the diameter of the middle narrow part was 1.2 to 1.5 cm. Conclusion: Stent under endoscopic and fluoroscopic guidance is a non-invasive palliative treatment for patients suffering from late-stage esophageal cancer complicated by tracheo-esophageal fistula
