Full MYRRHA file in the hands of the Belgian government

Creators

Description

MYRRHA is the very first prototype of a nuclear reactor driven by a particle accelerator in the world. In this unique configuration known as an Accelerator Driven System (ADS), the subcritical reactor core is characterized by the fact that there is insufficient fissile material to spontaneously maintain the fission chain reaction. The article discusses progress made in relation to the preparation of the MYRRHA file to the Belgian federal government. Eleven reports, studies and detailed documents, also known as High-Level Deliverables, needed to be submitted to the Belgian government in order to move the project forward. Mission accomplished: the finalised documents have been in the hands of government experts since December 2017. The teams behind MYRRHA are extremely pleased with the way things are going.
