Phonon dispersion relations for the Pdsub(0.96)Agsub(0.04) crystal
Description
Phonon dispersion curves in Pdsub(0.96)Agsub(0.04) single crystal at 296 K have been measured along directions [100], [110] and [111] using neutron inelastic scattering. The phonon frequency shifts, Δω(q vector) for all branches, the self-energy function, Σsub(j)(q vector,ωsub(j)(q vector)), and the slope of the T1 [110] phonon branch have been determined. The Born-von Karman analysis with the seven-neighbour model has been carried out, and the force constants and elastic constants calculated. Correlations between the anomalous slope of the T1 [110] phonon branch and the structure of the generalized susceptibility function chi0(q vector) [110] for Pd are discussed. (author)
