Description

Radiation and radioactivity related issues have been on the WHO agenda for many years. Consequently, the new ICRP recommendations are of great interest and concern to WHO with respect to the following work: the chapter on radioactive materials in the Guidelines for Drinking-Water Quality, the chapter on radon in the Air Quality Guidelines for Europe, the study on Derived Intervention Levels for Radionuclides in Food, and the Basic Safety Standards for Radiation Protection. The monograph on Health Implication from Nuclear Power Production, recently revised, takes account of the new ICRP recommendations. These subjects have been, or may have to be re-examined in light of the new ICRP recommendation. (author)
