Selection strategy of representative spent nuclear fuel

  • 1. KEPCO Nuclear Fuel, Daejeon (Korea, Republic of)

Description

The spent nuclear fuel(SF) integrity evaluation is main activity among many matters that shall be preformed. By the way, unfortunately, various kinds of SF in Figure 1 have been stored in Korean nuclear power plants. This situation could be burden to the related evaluation. Most of the international leading institutes have approached this matter from a selection of representative SF(RSF) at first stage for the effectiveness of evaluation and thereafter the detailed evaluations are executed targeted on one. There might be many kinds of methodologies to select RSF. In this paper a promising suggestion is to be proposed considering diverse parameters and also Korean situation. Many parameters shall be considered for selecting RSF to cover various kinds of SF and to simplify lots of evaluation work. Considering technology development step and other circumstances, SF manufacturing ability and reconstitution/re assembly shall be higher priority than other parameters
