Structural and electronic properties of NdSb: a LSDA + U study

  • 1. Condensed Matter Theory Group, School of Studies in Physics, Jiwaji Univ., Gwalior (India)

Description

Neodymium antimonide (NdSb) crystallize in the simple NaCI structure and hence supposed to be more amenable to theoretical analysis and also their unique structural and electronic properties make them interesting. The phase transition properties of NdSb have been measured by Hayashi et al. We have confined ourselves to the study of structural and electronic properties of NdSb. The LSDA+U strategy shows significant impact on the energy levels of the occupied and unoccupied 4f states of NdSb. A detailed analysis shows that the LSDA+U method provides the better description of present system
