Actinide separation process from lanthanides by selective extraction in an organic solvent containing a propanediamide
Description
A thiocyanate, for instance ammonium thiocyanate, is added to the nitric aqueous solution and contacted with an organic solution containing, at least, a propane diamide, for instance, 2-tetradecyl-N,N'-dimethyl-N,N'-dibutyl-propane diamide, and eventually a quaternary-ammonium salt. Distribution coefficients obtained for actinides (Am) and lanthanides (Eu, Ce) allow a high separation factor
