The value of CT guided percutaneous injection of ethanol in treatment of abdominal cysts (a report of 45 cases)

Description
Objective: To investigate the value of CT guided percutaneous injection of ethanol in treatment of ab- dominal cysts. Methods: CT guided percutaneous puncture was performed in 45 patients with abdominal cysts, which included 24 hepatic cysts, 18 renal cysts and 3 pancreatic pseudocysts. The content of the cysts was withdrawn at first and ethanol was injected then. Follow-up CT or/and US examinations were carried to observed the effect. Results: The cure rate, excellence rate and effective rate was 78% (36/45), 20%(9/45) and 100% (45/45), respectively. No side effect was observed. Conclusions: CT guided percutaneous injection of ethanol is an efficient, safe and simply method in management of abdominal cysts. (authors)
