Prospects and constraints for nuclear power in developing countries
Description
Despite the interest in nuclear power and the IAEA's active assistance programme, only five developing countries (Argentina, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, India, Pakistan) have nuclear plants in operation. The combined net output of these plants is about 2,000 MWe. Twelve other developing countries have nuclear power reactors under construction, ordered or planned for operation by 1985. The net output of those under construction amounts to 17,200 MWe while the ordered or planned reactors will generate an additional 10,300 MWe. (orig./RW)

Trotz des Interesses an Atomenergie und des aktiven Beistandes der IAEO betreiben nur fuenf Entwicklungslaender (Argentinien, Bulgarien, Tschechoslovakei, Indien, Pakistan) Kernkraftwerke. Zusammen haben diese Anlagen einen Output von ca. 2.000 MWe. Zwoelf weitere Entwicklungslaender haben Kernkraftwerke im Bau, bestellt oder geplant fuer den Betrieb bis 1985. Die Nettoleistung der im Bau befindlichen betraegt 17.200 MWe, waehrend in Auftrag gegebene oder geplante Reaktoren weitere 10.300 MWe erbringen werden. (orig./RW)
