Description
The stress-corrosion cracking susceptibility of V-15Cr-5Ti in pressurized water at 2880C has been evaluated by constant extension rate tensile (CERT) tests in a refreshed autoclave system. The test environments included high-purity water was well as water containing SO42- and NO3- impurities at a concentration of 10 wppm. Strain rates from 1x10-6 to 5x10-8 s-1 and dissolved oxygen levels from <0.005 to 7.9 wppm were employed. Test times were from 3.2 to 619 h. No stress corrosion cracking was observed under any of the test conditions. These results were analyzed by means of measured electrochemical potentials, available Pourbaix diagram information, and the observed oxidation behavior. (orig.)
