Description

This paper reports on construction methods for high-precision drift cells that provide a linear voltage-to-distance relationship over large regions within the cells, and hence lead to a linear time-to-distance calibration. These methods are being used to construct a pair of forward angle drift chambers to cover the angular range from 14 degrees to 30 degrees in the AMY experiment at the e+e- collider TRISTAN, and are discussed in relation to their possible use in SSC experiments
