Moment of truth for Italian nuke waste

Creators

Description

A report from Italy's energy, environmental and new technology agency, ENEA, highlights an approaching crisis concerning nuclear waste management. High level waste and reprocessed fuel returning from the Sellafield reprocessing plant, due to be returned in 1994, will have no temporary or permanent storage sites ready to receive it. It will probably simply be stored at the nuclear plants where it originated. Also Italy's state electricity corporation has yet to tackle the economic aspects of waste storage and dismantling. (UK)
