On decay of the initial density discontinuity in two-velocity hydrodynamics of a collisionless plasma
Description
The problem of decay of the initial density and velocity discontinuity in a plasma with cold ions and hot electrons is considered. It is shown that the equations of two-velocity hydrodynamics should be used to describe the evolution of such a discontinuity. The region of initial values of the plasma parameters, u sub(-)/sup(-)u and Nsub(-)/Nsub(+) is found in which the self-similar solutions obtained are applicable. Stability of the solutions is investigated
