MR diagnosis of a urethral diverticulum in a female patient

Magnetic resonance tomography reliably provides all anatomic information necessary for the differential diagnosis of a urethral diverticulum even when other imaging procedures cannot provide conclusive evidence. In general, the methodological limitations concern only the less important detail findings such as representation of the neck of the diverticulum or the distinction between septated and multiple diverticula. In addition, possible complications and the pelvic anatomy are shown in one examination. Thus, magnetic resonance tomography has a key position among the imaging processes and should be used as the imaging procedure of choice for diagnostically doubtful cases. (orig.)
