CT diagnosis of diseases of the thyroid gland
- 1. Kyoto Univ. (Japan). Faculty of Medicine
Description
CT images of various diseases of the thyroid gland were presented, and the value of them was surveyed. The thyroid gland is palpable, and this makes CT examination less important. However, it is useful in diagnosing the quality, and the extent of goiter, as to whether it involves lymph nodes, neighboring organs, blood vessels, trachea, and esophagus. However, in diseases without local infiltration, such as follicular adenocarcinoma and so on, it is difficult to differentiate them from benign adenoma by CT. (Ueda, J.)
