Magnetic moments and nuclear polarization in the tilted-multifoil interaction
Description
The electronic polarization of atomic configurations in the tilted-foil geometry can influence the nucleons via the hyperfine interaction with a large number of polarizing foils. For very short interaction times the resulting effects resemble a pure precession in an external magnetic field and can be used to measure g-factors of ps nuclear high spin levels. For very long interaction times a net nuclear polarization is produced. Such polarization can be measured and utilized to determine signs of nuclear quadrupole moments of high spin isomers and to investigate parity nonconservation effects. A brief summary of the current experimental status and of future possibilities will be given
