Description
This paper reports that, the authors are using Mossbauer spectrometry and x-ray diffractometry to determine site occupancies of dilute ternary solutes (Mo and Cr) in equiatomic FeCo with the B2 structure. Mossbauer spectrometry gives short range correlations between atoms, which are useful in determining local atomic environments about 57Fe atoms. X-ray diffractometry is used to measure difference in the sublattice structure factors in a series of alloys of (FeCo)1-y Xy with y = 0 to 8 atomic %. Changes in the relative intensity of the (100) superlattice diffraction are then used to determine site occupancy. Preliminary results indicate that both Mo and Cr preferentially occupy the Fe sublattice
