Overmoded waveguide components for 28 GHz and 70 GHz ECRH systems

  • 1. Institut fur Plasmaforschung, Universitat Stuttgart, D-7000 Stuttgart

Description

The waveguide components of the transmission lines and launching systems developed for electron cyclotron resonance heating (ECRH) on the Garching W VII-A stellarator using linearly polarized, quasi-optical millimetre wave pensil beams at 28 GHz (200 kW, 40 ms) and 70 GHz (200 kW, 100 ms) are described. These include converters, corrugated waveguide bends, diameter tapers, mode filters, mode selective directional couplers, and a polarization twist reflector. Operation and efficiency of the components are discussed
