Possibilities for the formation of teraelectronvolt neutrino beams

Description

Aspects of the formation of various neutrino beams at a proton accelerator at teraelectronvolt energies are considered. For obtaining wide-spectrum neutrino beams a pulsed system of lithium lenses with axially symmetric fields is examined, and the high efficiency of this system is demonstrated. The distribution of the magnetic and temperature fields of the lithium lenses is investigated. The problems of obtaining neutrino beams of a definite energy are discussed. The values of the energy resolutions, fluxes, and background impurities of dichromatic beams are compared with those of beams of tagged teraelectronvolt neutrinos
