Description
The Critical Facility (CF) is a low power research reactor. Neutronic and Process Instrumentation are important systems those ensure safety and control of the reactor. The Control and Instrumentation systems for the Critical facility have been designed, developed and commissioned by RRMD. Most of the nuclear instrumentation used here is originally designed and developed jointly by Electronics Division and RRMD during ZAC project for conversion of the earlier vacuum tube based instrumentation to the solid state circuits during 1984-85 for Zerlina, Apsara and Cirus and are in operation at Cirus and Apsara since commissioning in 1984-85. The Process Instrumentation is provided for monitoring important process parameters such as level, flow, temperature and pressure and generating trips, alarms and interlocks necessary for smooth operation of the systems and safety of personnel and equipment. The paper will provide technical information on the reactor instrumentation for both nuclear and process systems, used in Critical Facility, the associated trip and alarms logics, and their integration into the reactor monitoring control and protection system, information systems developed for Critical Facility.
