Description
The paper presents dimensioning rules for iron plates facing or embedded in concrete shielding walls against gamma radiation and required to compensate for the effects of cavities in such walls. The study was carried out for the cases of parallel radiation, of a point source and of an areal source with a cosine-shaped emission intensity profile in the energy range from 0.5 to 6 MeV. The calculations also consider the possible reductions in the thickness of the iron plate if a locally limited dose rate higher than the stipulated design dose rate is permissible. (orig.)
Abstract (German)
(orig.)Additional details
