Mismatch of the low β insertion of the Fermilab Main Ring for off-momentum orbits in absence of sextupoles

Creators

  • 1. Univ. of California, Berkeley

Description

The mismatch of an insertion with respect to the regular cells of a lattice opens gradients stop bands which give rise to the overmodulation of the β function and to nonlinearities in the variation of the tune with momentum. It is therefore of interest to have a quantitative evaluation of this mismatch in order to have a first guideline in the choice of the sextupole scheme which has to correct the chromaticity
