Alteration of reactor installation (alteration of No.2 and No.5 reactor facilities) in Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Station, Tokyo Electric Power Co., Inc

Description

The Nuclear Safety Commission reported to the Minister of International Trade and Industry about this case on March 20, 1986, on which the inquiry was made on March 11, 1986. As the result of examination, it was recognized that the technical capability of the applicant is adequate. Also, it was judged that the safety after altering the installation of these reactor facilities can be ensured. Concerning the change of pump capacity in the reactor coolant purification system, it was confirmed that the capacity of the reactor coolant purification system was not changed, the capacity of the pumps was designed taking temperature condition in consideration, and the shielding design for the main structures related to this alteration was made so as to keep the radiation exposure of workers properly low.
