Ordering in α-solid solutions of nitrogen in niobium

Description

Using radiography analysis of crystal grains isolated from ingots transformations of order-disorder type occurring in the process of quenching and tempering of α-solid solutions of nitrogen in niobium are studied. It is stated that after quenching ordered α'-structure is formed in oversaturated nitrogen original solution on the base of initial bcc niobium lattice. During tempering from α(α')-solid solution a more nitrogen rich cubic ordered α''-phase is precipitated. The found ordered modifications are metastable
