Description

In situ neutron diffraction is a useful tool for understanding the reaction pathway in solid hydrogen storage materials. Especially the combination of the Sievert technique for determining the amount of hydrogen absorbed while recording diffraction patterns can help clarify the mechanisms involved. Microstructural changes occurring during cycling with hydrogen can be investigated by Positron Annihilation Spectroscopy (PAS) an X ray Diffraction (XRD) method, whereby the formation of several types of defects can be determined.
