Analysis of fusion and deep-inelastic collisions of heavy ions with the extended surface friction model
Description
In this contribution we present some further results of the extended surface friction model in order to demonstrate that this model is able to describe in a universal way data on fusion and deep-inelastic collisions of heavy ions. The model is an extension of the friction model by Gross and coworkers by including individual (quadrupole) deformation modes of the collision partners, by taking into account charge and mass transfer, and by treating statistical fluctuations in all relevant degrees of freedom. One essential feature of the model is that the friction acts between the juxtaposed surfaces of the collision partners. Measured cross sections are compared with the results of the surface friction model
