Use of Fissionable Substances in Neutron Dosimetry

Description
The authors present a neutron dosimetry method that makes use of several fissionable substances and permits direct measurement of the values of interest in dosimetry by the number of fission events. It is shown that by selecting boron filters and fissionable materials with different fission thresholds one can obtain a neutron recording efficiency that reproduces dose curves (neutron energy dependence of the maximum surface dose-equivalent and of the first-collision dose). The characteristics and construction of a detector for use in neutron dosimetry are described, and the possibilities of using different detector types (scintillation, ionization, etc.) for recording fission fragments are discussed. The authors consider the possibility of direct neutron -dose measurement by the number of fission events in a personnel dosimeter. For recording fission fragments they propose using special glass, and also ''Lavsan'' (polyester fibre) tissues or nuclear-track emulsions in the personnel dosimeter. (author)

Izlagaetsja metod dozimetrii nejtronov s ispol'zovaniem neskol'kih deljashhihsja veshhestv, obespechivajushhij neposredstvennoe izmerenie dozimetricheskih velichin po chislu aktov delenija. Pokazano, chto podborom deljashhihsja veshhestv s razlichnymi porogami delenija i bornyh fil'trov mozhno poluchit' jeffektivnost' registracii nejtronov, vosproizvodjashhuju dozovye krivye (zavisimost' maksimal'nogo, poverhnostnogo dozovogo jekvivalenta i dozy pervogo soudarenija ot jenergii nejtronov). Privedeny harakteristiki i sostav detektora dozimetra nejtronov. Obsuzhdajutsja vozmozhnosti primenenija raznogo tipa detektorov dlja registracii oskolkov delenija predlagaetsja v individual'nom dozimetre ispol'zovanie special'nogo stekla, a takzhe lavsanovyh tkanej ili jadernyh jemul'sij.
