Numerical simulation of the Z pinch in the DT plasma
Creators
Description
Simulation of a device Z-pinch in DT-plasma, compressed by rapidly growing current (growing time is 10 ns), its finite value being much higher than Pisa-Braginskij current, is performed using a one-dimensional MHD-code. Pinch compression degree depends on the fact whether the fusion reaction yield in the beginning of radiation collapse is enough for collapse counteraction. This dependence is sensitive to the way of energy release in plasma. It is shown that if α-particles escape through the pinch end, the pinch can be compressed to radii lower than 1 μm and burnout may exceed 50%. 31 refs., 25 figs
