Hunterston B advanced gas-cooled reactor - development of electrical auxiliary system with station life
Description
The electrical auxiliary system for a nuclear power station can be regarded as a service which must meet the needs of a number of requirements such as a safety duty, integrity against hazards, commercial reliability and ease of maintenance. Throughout the lifetime of power station operation, which can be in excess of 30 years, the nature and level of each of these requirements may change and this can lead to a need for modification and development of the system. This paper describes the process of development of the electrical auxiliary system for Hunterston B Power Station from first commissioning in 1976 to the present. (author)
