Description
This paper describes a radiation exposure management system which is practical and effective in ensuring that any work undertaken in a radiation environment can be managed and executed within the principles of ALARP. Application of this system is demonstrated by reference to three recently completed projects which reflect the diverse range of work undertaken by specialist contractors within the UK nuclear industry. The projects were i) decontamination and erection of shielding inside an Irradiated Fuel Dismantling Cell. i) encapsulation and disposal of ion exchange resin and iii) major reactor in-vessel repair and modification.
