Investigation of the destruction and acid hydrolysis kinetics of easily hydrolyzable polysaccharides in gamma-irradiated corn cobs

Description
Changes in chemical composition of corn cobs gamma-irradiated in absorption doses range of 0-1.80 MGr are studied. The irradiation has been shown to cause an increase in the easily hydrolyzable polysaccharide and ash volume from 38.5 to 42.7% and 0.98 to 1.52%, respectively, and the corresponding decrease in the volume of hardly hydrolyzable polysaccharides and lignin from 32.9 to 23.3% and 17.8 to 16.4%, respectively. Under the action of ionizing radiation the increase in the acid hydrolysis rate of some easily hydrolyzable polysaccharide fractions and their solubility in water and dilute sulfuric acid is observed
