Photon heating benchmark - computation of gamma photon heat generation rates in shield medium
Creators
- 1. Radiation Safety Systems Division, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai (India)
Description
Accurate quantitative estimation of gamma ray heating rates in shield media is crucial to ensure radiological shield integrity by adopting suitable heat removal systems. Hence this benchmark exercise deals with computation of heat generation rates due to interaction of gamma ray photons in surrounding shield media. We consider two commonly encountered types of geometry in radiation shield design problems
