Quadrupole radiation in fast-neutron capture on 40Ca

Description
Differential cross sections have been measured for the reaction 40Ca(n, γ0)41Ca at seven angles in 1-MeV steps and at theta/sub lab/ = 900 in 200-keV steps for incident neutron energies of 6--13 MeV. The extracted a2 coefficients and the fore-aft asymmetry are in good agreement with a direct-semidirect model calculation if the isoscalar giant quadrupole resonance is included
