A novel design for PWR pressure vessels
Description
A novel design is described for PWR pressure vessels which allows reduction in the number of welded joints and adoption of joint geometries and is particularly favourable for manufacturing and inservice inspection. The 'Integral Vessel Design' has already been adopted for the latest two Belgian nuclear power plants (3 loop vessels). It confers to the reactor vessels significant advantages in mechanical behaviour, manufacturing and inservice inspection. (author)
