Wanted: a nonperturbative treatment of spontaneously broken symmetries in the early universe
Description
A perturbative analysis at a simple Higgs model of finite temperature reveals the very interesting occurrence of a four-phase pattern of vacuum symmetry. The generality of this behavior is emphasized, and the possible import for cosmology is noted. Attention is drawn to the question of whether or not the perturbative results are quantitatively correct, qualitatively correct, or perturbative artifacts. A nonperturbative lattice study of the model would answer the question
