Large conversion efficiency and dynamic range for SIS mixers

Description
Large but finite conversion gain with positive output impedance is predicted for a single sideband SIS mixer at zero temperature. It is found that an optimum occurs for small local oscillator power, unlike the classical case. Still, the dynamic range can be quite large. Fundamental limits allow a dynamic range in excess of 70 dB for Pb-alloy junctions with a 500 MHz bandwidth. (orig.)
