Description

Experimental data deposited energy losses for 40 MeV/n 3He ions passing through a proportional counter filled with an Ar(93%) + CH4(7%) gas mixture are compared with the Vavilov distributions and the theoretical distributions allowing for electron escape from the absorber as reported by Badhwar and Adams et al. The observed data are in agreement with the theoretical distributions allowing for electron escape. (orig.)
