Effect of a polymer matrix on the properties of CdS semiconductor clusters

Description
The effect of a polymer matrix on the properties of CdS semiconductor clusters embedded into this matrix is considered. The size of these CdS clusters has been estimated by the analysis of optical absorption spectra. The presence of several cluster fractions with different sizes in each sample is revealed. It is found that, in a mosaic matrix, which has hydrophilic and hydrophobic areas, the thermodynamically more stable clusters are of smaller size than those in the case of a continuous matrix.
