Relativistic NN*(1520) coupled channel deuteron wave function

Description

A coupled channel approach is used to derive the contribution of the NN*(1520) isobar configuration to the deuteron ground state wave functions. The derivation uses a Lippmann-Schwinger type equation which is relativistic, linear, covariant, and three-dimensional. The NN → NN* and N*N → NN* transitions are calculated via exchange of virtual π, rho and ω mesons. Results are given for different off-mass shell extrapolations, coupling constants, and cut-off factors and an opinion is given as to which result is the best. This wave function is parameterized: it is also used to calculate partial cross sections for the high energy (1 GeV) nucleon pick-up mechanism for pd → dN* reaction
