Standby heat removal system for a nuclear reactor using flow diodes

Description

A nuclear reactor using flow diodes to limit reactor core coolant flow through an emergency flow path during normal reactor coolant flow, and to allow unhindered natural circulation around the path with opposite direction when normal reactor coolant flow stops. The emergency flow path may be a separate circuit with a heat exchanger or may include the core blanket as a heat sink with reverse flow. (author)
